Below are photos from the Louisiana shipyard. In January 2002, the Cape May Whale Watcher took a 4,000 mile round trip journey to Morgan City, Louisiana. At the Sea Craft shipyard, the boat underwent significant upgrades. Below the waterline all new struts, shafts, propellers, and through hull fittings were replaced. The hull was widened nearly 3 feet at the waterline with the installation of 55 foot boxes on each side. This improvement makes the boat much more comfortable in side seas. On deck, a ten foot walk-on bow pulpit was added. Room on the foredeck was increased significantly in addition to providing passengers with a thrilling place to ride and view marine life. The roof line over the open aft deck was extended to the transom in the rear and the gunwalls on the sides. Removable clear panels provide a spacious sheltered deck house for nearly 80 passengers. New waste panels were installed from the pulpit back to the cabin. A new more comfortable railing was installed around the entire lower deck. The Cape May Whale Watcher was also re-tested by the Coast Guard and issued new certificates reflecting these improvements.
