The Stewart Family started the Cape May Whale Watcher in 1993, and has been involved in Eco-Tourism at the Jersey Shore since 1973. Captain Jeff Stewart Sr started out as a mate aboard the Big Flamingo in Wildwood Crest, NJ.
Today, Captain Jeff Stewart Sr. and his wife Mary Stewart of more than 30 years are the foundation of this very tight knit organization, Cape May Whale Watcher, Inc. Their son, Captain Jeff Stewart Jr. has been raised in the business and now he continues the tradition of Eco Tourism and cruising at the Jersey Shore. Both his sisters, Mary E. Stewart and Brigid Stewart can often be found at the Marina and on the boats helping with all aspects of the business. Together, the five of them make up a true blue family business at the shore.
However, they are not the only ones worth mentioning as family. Because family isn't just about blood. Family goes deeper than that. Other captains, crew, and engineers make up the Stewart family. Captain David Githens, Captain Jack Mccdevitt, Captain Robert Lubberman, Captain Miles, Cheif Engineer Scott, and First Mate Clark Lare all make up integral parts of the company, and the company would not exist if not for their dedication, expertise and sacrafices they have all made.
In recent years we have also had to say good-bye to true pillars of the Cape May Whale Watcher, Inc family. In 2007, Admiral Robert A. Stewart, Arny to his family and friends, past away. He was with the company from the beginning, and he is missed everyday. he was a week short of his 90th Birthday. Also, Elizabeth Stewart, has retired from the day to day operations, to enjoy moving at a different pace. Elizabeth had been an integral part of our group booking department. She can still be seen on nice days, enjoying a cruise with her son, Captain Jeff Stewart Sr. |
