As the weather cools and cozy clothes make their way out of storage, Cape May residents and visitors will find an abundance of fall outdoor activities. From confusing corn mazes to Halloween scares and pumpkin patches.

Below are some of the fall outdoor activities you can enjoy before the weather gets too cold.

SPOOKY LANTERN TOUR

On Saturday, Oct. 29, hear the story of the ‘misprinted’ gravestone, visit the Burton Ingram House and pass by Lewes’ St. Peter’s Churchyard. The Spooky Lantern Tour is a half day event that includes ferry passage, a trolley tour, and a dinner buffet.

R AND J FARM

At R and J Farm in Galloway Township, you will be able to enjoy a corn maze and hayrides to their pumpkin patch; the pumpkin is included in the cost of the hayride. If you’re looking for something a little scarier, try the Cornfield of Terror, which is open later in the evening and features the mysterious howls and screams of a farmer that went missing centuries ago. Along with those attractions, the farm also has movies under the stars every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. SAHL’S FATHER SON FARM

Now through Nov. 5, Shal’s Father Son Farm in Egg Harbor City will have hay rides, pig races, a pumpkin patch, corn maze and tons more family games and fall outdoor activities. The corn maze actually has two difficulty phases, which means you can pick one that best suits you. Along with chickens and piglets, every Saturday of October (weather permitting), kids will be able to enjoy pony rides.

TEA & CONFESSIONS

If you’re seeking something not-so-family-friendly, consider checking out the final tea and confessions session at the Physick Estate on Oct. 29. Previously, Typhoid Mary and Lizzie Borden were the hostesses of the hour. This week’s session features the bride of Frankenstein. Hear her story over afternoon tea at the Carriage House Café & Tearoom at Physick Estate.

MOVIES IN THE PARK

The Young Entrepreneurs of Cape May and the City of Cape May are featuring everyone’s favorite Halloween movie, “Hocus Pocus,” in Rotary Park on Friday, Oct. 28 for free. The movie begins at 7 p.m. and refreshments will be available for purchase. Seating is limited and those interested in watching the film are encouraged to bring beach chairs or blankets.

MASQUERADE BALL

Congress Hall is transformed on Friday, Oct. 28 for the masquerade ball, which will feature cocktails, treats, and a costume contest. Tickets for the event are $25 and participants are encouraged to wear a mask in order to get into the event.

FALL FESTIVAL AT BEACH PLUM FARM

Every Saturday through Nov. 19, Beach Plum Farm will feature delicious food and craft beers from Cape May Brewery. Enjoy fall outdoor activities like hayrides, walks through the farm and lawn games. Fall on the Farm is a great option for adults and children.

SCARECROW ALLEY

Visit the 8^th annual Scarecrow Alley at Physick Estate in Cape May through Oct. 31 – it’s free. The annual contest involves an array of scarecrows created by community members and businesses. Visitors can vote for their favorite scarecrow through Halloween when the winner is announced.

TRICK-OR-TREAT IN THE CITY

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., kids and adults can visit the Cape May Convention Hall and go trick-or-treating for free. Trick-or-treating will also be open to the public at Physick Estate and is completely free.
